VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Pantry will have space for sorting every Friday in December and on January 8th. Call (818) 346-5554 by 3 p.m. each Thursday to confirm.

PLEASE DROP OFF TOYS at the Pantry by Friday, December 18th for the holiday toy store December 19th.

THANK YOU LOS COLINAS DISTRICT BOY SCOUTS for collecting and donating 6,092 units of non-perishable food. Also thanks go to Troop and Venture Crew 22 for set up, sorting, packing and clean up the day of the Drive November 14th. Congratulations Drive coordinators John Willauer and Elliot Brown.

SUPERMARKET FOOD DRIVES Help is needed Saturday, December 5th at Ralph’s on the north side of Victory west of Fallbrook, Saturday, December 12th at Albertson’s on the south side of Victory west of Fallbrook, and Saturday, December 19th at Ralph’s on the north side of Sherman Way east of Shoup. All consist of two hour shifts, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Call Jeff Albee to sign up for the December 5th drive (818) 731-7385, Al Trumpler for the others (818) 887-9384.

WE NEED CASH-OFF SUPERMARKET COUPONS Some are in Entertainment books or the newspaper; others come in the mail. Please leave them with the shift leader at the Pantry. Also please bring in egg cartons, large rubber bands and 2010 calendars. Thanks!

WE APPRECIATE SHIFT VOLUNTEERS who are on time for the afternoon shift, relieving the morning shift and who complete cleanup at the end of the Friday shift, helping the other volunteers.

VOLUNTEER NEWS Welcome new volunteers Giuseppe Berti and Barbara McCoy, and thanks to their trainers Carol Lombard and Phoebe Shaw. Condolences go out to the family and friends of Jo Trench, who died recently. She was a long-time Pantry volunteer and winner of the Volunteer of the Year award.   

TRIBUTES For a minimum donation of $5, you can help the Pantry and honor or remember someone. Please send the name of the person you wish to remember/honor and the reason for it, along with your check, to Earl Lewis, 6036 Shirley Ave., Tarzana, CA 91356. Also, please let us thank you by including your name and address.

PLEASE ADD YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO YOUR E- MAIL, when you request your shift(s) from pantryscheduler@sbcglobal.net.

IF A GROUP DROPS OFF A DONATION, please ask them if they would like to receive a thank you note. If so, pull a donation card from the envelope on the bulletin board, fill it out and sign it. You’ll need to ask their name and address, and describe what they donated. Then return the card to the envelope, where it will be passed on to a note writer. When someone drops off a personal donation, give them the card to document a charitable deduction.

FOOD PANTRY T-SHIRTS ON SALE AT THE PANTRY Medium, Large and Extra Large available for $7 each to help the Pantry.

HUNGER FACT: According to a recent USDA report, about 15% of the U.S. population is food insecure. This is an increase of 4 million households from last year. Food insecurity is inadequate or unsure access to enough food for active, healthy living.
